Speakeasy Bootleg Band

The Doghouse Cellar Jazz Bar

Saturday 11 Jun 2016 20:00

 - Glevan Laine, Independant Music Speakeasy Bootleg Band are purveyors of the "Finest Quality Bootleg Music Since Records Began..... Distilled & Bottled in New York and Chicago, but consumed wherever finer things are appreciated".  SBB  play the irrepressible vintage sounds of the Cotton Club and Birdland, the Gatsby era, the illegal drinking haunts of prohibition Harlem and Chicago and countless rent parties, with driving bass, explosive drums and sophisticated witty vocals, or whatever your function requires*. This is the music of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Art Blakey, the music which drove Tin Pan Alley and created the Great American Songbook. The SBB musicians have a ball on every gig, and make sure the audience do as well, making SBB the ideal band for people who don't like jazz......... until they've heard us that is........... The perfect antidote to all things serious! Good time, easy listening, toe - tapping stuff. No more shall we hear the plaintive cry - "What time does the tune start?"......... After this, everything else is moonshine........... er Boots!
